Free time to blog?! You're joking, right?

So, by now you all know that Baby Bean (aka Master Liam) (aka Squirt) (aka Liam Hunter) (etc) has arrived...here's our story:

After eating what turned out to be a much to heavy dinner of Chicken Enchilladas, we went into active labour after my water broke at home on Monday evening (and from what we've been told was after a couple of days of me not realizing I was actually in real labour and not having Braxton Hicks) and made it to the hospital with plenty of time to spare...PLENTY...we were in labour for approximately 12 hours, and just over 2.5 hours of pushing only to find out that Liam was just too big for me to give birth naturally (stubborn like his mother) so off we went down to the ER for an unsuccessful try with the forceps (they actually lifted me off the operating table!) and then an emergency c-section. The doctors and nursing staff were AMAZING and really made the whole process so much easier to handle...we definately got lucky with them.
Within the next 10-15 minutes, our baby was pulled out into the cold, cruel world and the doctor yelled "Happy Birthday" to him. The entire room cheered and said congratulations to Steve and I and told us that we had a healthy baby boy...and then we got to hear him cry. That had to be the most wonderful sound we could hear after 14 hours of waiting to meet him.

Liam Hunter was born on Tuesday, August 28th at 10:24am at 8lbs 11oz and 21.5 inches long...he's a BIG boy! (this is also my late Grand-daddy's birthday).
He's fitting into the Wright house perfectly and has completely taken over our hearts and lives! Despite the sleepless nights and constant feedings...we wouldn't have it any other way. We now understand what many people have told us we would feel once we had our first baby...an intese wave of love and completion.

Thank you to everyone who have been checking in on us by phone, email, personal visits, etc. It's great to know we have such an amazing support group during this transition.
We'll do our best to keep adding new (and adorable) pictures of Liam as he progresses and to blog about the trials and tribulations of raising a baby for the first time...which I'm sure most of you will get a laugh from.
